Aleksander<br />Ivancić


Mechanical Engineer, PhD in Thermal Science, Associated Professor at Barcelona Institute of Architecture. The main area of his professional interest is positioned within infrastructure planning, with a particular focus on energy systems.

He has held several senior positions: Chief Technical Officer of Barcelona Strategic Urban Systems (2009-11), Head of Department in Barcelona Regional – Metropolitan Agency of Urban Development and Infrastructures (1999-2008), Technical Director of the Barcelona Energy Agency (2002-03).

He has taught at UNESCO Chair in Sustainability and at Industrial Engineering School booth at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, Escuela de Organización Industrial in Madrid and Instutut Quimic de Sarría in Barcelona. He also gave lectures at Universita della Svizzera Italiana, New Delhi Schoolo of Planning and Architecture, University of Malmo and Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Expert by invitation, engaged by various international institutions, like European Commission, Euro Heat&Power, International Energy Agency, Swedish Energy Agency, or German Marshal Fund, among others.

Aleksandar has published more than fifty scientific and technical papers in journals and books, relating to urban planning, urban infrastructures, renewable energies, renewable integration in urban space, energy planning, heat and mass transfer and computational fluid dynamics. He also published two books: Energy Scapes (2010 Gustavo Gili), Best Practice Cases of Energy Efficiency in Spain (2010, Fundació Gas Natural, with J.A Perez)

He has leaded projects that received awards from European Commission, Climate Alliance and Bureau International des Expositions.
